Fade in:

Every story has a beginning...

... and that's where, in most cinema and TV productions, a screenplay comes in handy. (*)

I've written produced scripts for a short feature, 'Teruggespoeld' and for two animated series, 'Klumpies' and 'Uki'.

If you're in need of a screenwriter for your series or feature film, I just might be your guy. I also provide script analyses and rewrites.

(* Also for the end and the fiddly bits in between, but that would have messed up my opening line...)

Steam

'Steam' is an animated series for teens, in development.

Uki

'Uki' is an animated series for toddlers, airing on, among others, Ketnet (Belgium), Telekids (Netherlands), CBeebies (UK) and MTV3 (Finland). Each episode has a short story section for which I provided 4 scripts and rewrote a number of others.

Uki and his friends, Rabbit, Turtle, Squirl and Duck play, bicker, explore and discover many amazing things under the watchful eye of Sun and Cloud.

This was a hard one to get right; it's been a looong time since pre-school for me. But in the end, I'm proud of the result.

Given the short length of the segments and the lack of dialogue, scripts were delivered as a beat sheet rather than standard screenplay format, as you can see with the story section for 'Snow Rabbit'.

Klumpies

'Klumpies' is an animated series for children, airing on Ketnet in Belgium and soon to premier in several countries across the world.

After writing a sample episode which was instrumental in securing funding, I was asked to write a further 6 episodes.

In 'Klumpies', young Bertie and his friends and family are trying to live a peaceful life in the Klumpie Village up in the Pipple Tree. Being all of 5 inches tall and having to contend with anything from a bumbling genuis druid to dimwitted Dumpies, this is not as easy as it might seem...

I had a ball on this production, rubbing shoulders (via the intertubes) with established writers like Jimmy Hibbert ('Bob the Builder', 'Shaun the Sheep'), Diane Redmond ('Postman Pat', 'Angelina Ballerina', 'Bob the Builder') and Chris Trengrove ('Thundercats', 'Silverhawks' and, yes, 'Bob the Builder'). Reading their work and trying to match the quality in my own writing was a very rewarding experience.

Feel free to check out the scripts for 'Klumpies in the Mist' and 'Raggy Muffin Blues'.

Teruggespoeld

'Teruggespoeld' is a short live action / animated movie. It's being screened exclusively at the Hidrodoe educative amusement park in Belgium.

This was my first produced screenplay. As well as drafting the script, I was asked to supervise the production and direct the animated section.

The film tells the story of Drip, Drup and Spetter, three living drops of water and their struggle against an elemental polluting monster, Smos. It was intended to showcase the process of water purification in the most fun and action-packed way possible. The film has been screened continuously since 2005, so I guess I got it right.

Feel free to check out the screenplay but be advised, it's written in dutch.
